Spicy Party Pretzels and Nuts

Years ago, when we lived in Colorado, our neighbors dropped off these pretzels that absolutely blew our minds for a Christmas gift. We took that tin down in record time and I begged for the recipe, turns out it was only 5 ingredients. I have been making it for years, it has a packet of Ranch powder, a packet of Italian dressing mix, red pepper flakes, and oil. Shake it all in a bag with pretzels and let it hang for at least a day. They are EPIC, but I wanted to make a “clean” version that I knew all the ingredients to. Plus I was thinking, why stop at pretzels? So here is a version everyone can get behind, they are addictive and you keep going back for more. I have a recipe for the seasoning mix, it makes a bunch so you can sprinkle it on all the things. Instructions for pretzels and nuts are also below. This is vegan, dairy free, and gluten free so you can decide what to put it on to best work with your eating preference.

With the holidays upon us, these are perfect for setting a bowl out, being on a grazing board, giving gifts to the neighbors, or a snack anytime. My kids love these because they pack such flavor and if your people don’t like them as spicy, just reduce the red pepper flakes down. What will you sprinkle it on?

Spicy Party Pretzels

- In a gallon freezer bag, fill with the whole bag of pretzels, Party seasoning, and oil. Seal and shake until coated. Leave on counter, flipping bag and shaking it every couple of hours, for 24 hours. Then serve.

  • 1 cup whole raw almonds

  • 1 cup whole raw pecans

  • 1 cup whole raw walnuts

  • 2 Tablespoons coconut oil

- Preheat the oven to 350 and cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.

- Mix the nuts with the oil and seasoning until they are all covered. Roast for 10-15 minutes, stirring halfway. Serve warm or room temperature.

I always have a jar of my Onion Ranch seasoning, and I think you should too. Grab your jar, garlic, red pepper flakes for spice, and Italian Herb mix along with coconut oil.

This spice mix is perfect as a gift, you could put a bit in a jar with a cute bow and include the nut and/or the pretzel recipes.

Seal and shake it up! Let it hang out for at least a day before cracking the bag open, the oil has to have time to absorb fully. And that’s it!
